L'altro giorno stavo osseevando una Benelli Leoncino 500 Trail, e....
A few days ago I was looking at a Benelli Leoncino 500 Trail, and....

Certamente non sono grafico, sono solo un viaggiatore, ma...cosa ne pensate del mio schizzo?

Una Adventure Bike economica, monocilindrica (ottimo per la coppia) e maneggevole.

Partendo da una Benelli Leoncino Trail:

-500cm3

-47,6cv

-Peso a secco 170kg

si potrebbe modificare con:

-cerchi da 21"-18" (ampia gamma di coperture dello pneumatico)

-l'interasse salirebbe a 1490mm (veramente corta, pensate che una Husqvarna 701 ha 1504mm di interasse), garantendo un'ottima maneggevolezza.

-la luce da terra salirebbe a circa 235mm

-serbatoio da circa 20litri (contor i 12,5 iniziali) per un'autonomia di circa 400km

-rialzo del terminale di scarico

-cupolino protettivo per i trasferimenti autostradali

-interaxes will become approximately to 1490mm (really a short bike, relating to an Husqvarna 701 which has 1504mm ), wich guarantees a good handling.

-height from the ground will become approximately  235mm

-bigger tank about 20lt (starting 12,5lt) for 250 miles of range

-lifting exahust

Quest'Hotel puó essere utile quando si sbarca a sera tardi. Non lo conosco personalmente, ma me lo hanno indicato. Di solito si dormiva verso Hammamet, ma ulimamente pare che rubino un sacco di moto lí. 36km dal porto.

This Hotel can be useful when you disembark late at night. I don't know it personally, but somebody suggested me. Usually people slept towards Hammamet, but ultimately they seem to steal a lot of bikes there. 36km from the port.

KAIROUAN (142km)

Visita di passaggio. Quarta città santa dell' Islam. Visitare la Moschea e notare le ancore intorno alle mura della città. Servianno a trattenerla quando si solleverà per salvarsi dal giudizio universale.

Qui coltivano un'ottima qualitá di peperoncino. Fuori città potete trovare donne fuori dalle case con i barattoli di Harissa in vendita.

Inoltre é famosa per la qualità della lavorazione di pelle e cuoio (Dainese ha messo qui il suo stabilimento di produzione, anni fa).

Visit of passage. Fourth holy city of Islam. Visit the Mosque and notice the anchors around the city walls. They serve to keep it to the ground to save itself from the universal judgment.Here they cultivate an excellent quality of chilli. Outside the city you can find women outside the houses with the cans of Harissa for sale.It is also famous for the quality of leather and hide processing (Dainese put its manufacturing plant here, years ago).

GAFSA (203km)

A Gafsa ci sono delle belle rovine della città romana di Sufetula. Si vedono anche passando sulla strada. La Città non è attraente e gli alberghi non sono un granchè. Il consiglio è quello di programmare le taple in modo da visitare le rovine di passaggio.

In Gafsa there are beautiful ruins of the Roman city of Sufetula. They are also seen passing on the road. The city is not attractive and the hotels are not that great. The advice is to program your legs in order to visit the ruins passing through.

Questo nel 2010 era un camping con bungalow puliti.

Canyons

 Da li si accede direttamente alla palmeraie e a una delle cascate. Potete farvi guidare nel canyon  del fiume secco. Non andate da soli senza chiedere prima, perchè puó arrivare una piena improvvisa.

Big waterfall

Prima di Tamerza trovate un'altra cascata, piú famosa. Potete visitare anche il vecchio villaggio distrutto da una piena del 1969, arroccato su un piccolo promontorio sullo oued.

Mides Canyon

A nord di Tamerza c'é Mides. Dopo il palmeto c'é la città vecchia.

Bella vista sul canyon, usato anche come set nel film Guerre Stellari.

This in 2010 was a campsite with clean bungalows.
From there you go directly to the palm plantation and to one of the waterfalls. You can be guided into the canyon of the dry river. Don't go alone without asking first, because a sudden flood can occur.
Before Tamerza you can find another waterfall, more famous. You can also visit the old village destroyed by a flood of 1969, perched on a small promontory on the oued.

North of Tamerza is Mides. After the palm grove there is the old city.

Beautiful view of the canyon, also used as a set in the movie Star Wars.

NEFTA (72km)

Il giorno succesisvo potete visitare l'oasi di Nefta, e, dopo pochi chilometri di pista di tole ondulee, il set del porto stellare di Mos Espa, sempre in "Guerre Stellari". Davanti al parcheggio c'è una costa di duna dove potete salire con le moto. 
A nord del sito ci sono le dune dove si allenava Meoni.

Potete poi fermarvi all'oasi di Tozeur prima di prendere l'asfalto che attraversa lo Chott el Djerid, il grande lago salato.

Arrivate cosî a Douz.

On the following day you can visit the oasis of Nefta, and, after a few kilometers of corrugee track, the set of the star port of Mos Espa, also in "Star Wars". In front of the parking there is a dune coast where you can go up with the bikes.
North of the site are the dunes where Meoni trained.
You can then stop at the oasis of Tozeur before taking the asphalt that crosses the Chott el Djerid, the great salt lake.

So arrive at Douz.

TOZEUR 

La Palmeraie di Touzeur è la piú grande della Tunisia. Passeggiarvi è un'esperienza rilassante. Se capitate per fine settembre vi consiglio di assaggiare i datteri freschi, appena colti dalla pianta. Una delizia.

The Palmeraie of Touzeur is the largest in Tunisia. Walking is a relaxing experience. If you happen to be at the end of September I suggest you to taste the fresh dates, just picked from the plant. Delicious

Tenente conto che a Douz, per il turismo, l'inverno é alta stagione.

A Douz potete visitare la piazza del mercato, farvi la foto sotto la "chiave del sahara" (un monumento per turisti) e vedere il cammellodromo. Potete fare base al cammellodromo per assaggiare la sabbia.

Taking into account that in Douz, for tourism, winter is high season.

In Douz you can visit the market square, take the picture under the "sahara key" (a monument for tourists) and see the camel track. You can base yourself on the camel race track to "taste" the sand.

Desert dunes in Eastern Grand Erg

Ha anche qualche camera. Il proprietario é Faiz (su FB c'é sia il café sia lui come Faizdouz Mansour). Gestisce anche il noleggio quad. Se non avete moto adatte con quelli potete vedere il forte romano li vicino, oppure spingervi piú a sud.
Una bravissima persona.

Ain Oudette oasis

La pozza di acqua calda é molto rilassante.

In alternativa é bello anche dormire con le tende tra le dune poco fuori l' oasi. Avvisate peró la polizia lí nell'oasi.

Se bevete alcolici non consumateli ai tavoli dei bar dell oasi. Vi dovete allontanare.

Ah.....non guardate il cielo stellato, altrimenti vi beccate il Mal d'Africa.

It also has some rooms. The owner is Faiz (on FB there is both the café and him, as Faizdouz Mansour). It also manages quad rental. If you don't have suitable bikes with them you can see the Roman fort nearby, or go further south.
A very good person.
The pool of hot water is very relaxing.
Alternatively it is also nice to sleep with your tent in the dunes just outside the oasis. Please notify the police there in the oasis.
If you drink alcohol, do not consume them at the oasis bar tables. You have to move away.

Ah ..... don't look at the starry sky, otherwise you catch the "African Bug".

MAATMATA (100km)

Maatmata e le case troglodite scavate bella roccia. Ne trovate tante. Sono quasi tutte visitabili dietro compenso.

Maatmata and the troglodyte houses carved out of beautiful rock. You can find many. Almost all can be visited for a fee.

SFAX (223km)

Di passaggio mi sono.preso del tempo per vagare per il souk. Molto grande e molto bello.

In passing, I took the time to wander the souk. Very large and very beautiful.

MAHDIA (116km)

Quest'albergo é piccolo ma pulito. Il proprietario era un campione di nuoto.

Mahdia é una località balneare con spiagge bianche. Visitate il centro e il cimitero del mare, sulla punta.

Da qui potete rientrare tranquillamente in giornata al porto de la Goulette.

This hotel is small but clean. The owner was a swimming champion.
Mahdia is a seaside resort with white beaches. Visit the center and the sea cemetery at the tip.
From here you can easily return to the port of la Goulette.

ALTRI SITI DI INTERESSE - OTHER INTERESTING PLACES

Qualora disponiate di piú giorni e vogliate espandere il giro, vi consiglio di visitare la Tavola di Jugurta, il parco nazionale del Djebel Chambi e gli Ksour (granai fortificati di epoca Berbera) del "circuito" di Tatouine.

If you have more days and want to expand the tour, I suggest you visit the Table of Jugurta, the Djebel Chambi national park and the Ksour (fortified Berber barns) of the "circuit" of Tatouine.

CONSIGLI SEMPRE VALIDI - ALWAYS VALID ADVICES

-contrattate sempre i prezzi PRIMA di usufruire di un servizio, un pasto, un panino, una camera etc.
Always negotiate prices BEFORE using a service, a meal, a sandwich, a room, etc.

-il venerdi é giorno di preghiera. Puó darsi che vicino alle moschee (soprattutto a Kairouan) troviate qualche esaltato. A me non é mai successo nulla, peró meglio evitare.
Friday is a day of prayer. It may be that near the mosques (especially in Kairouan) you will find some exalted ones. Nothing has ever happened to me, but better avoided.

-per mangiare lungo il trasferimento verso sud consiglio i numerosi chioschi lungo la strada che arrostiscono agnello. Ottimo e a ottimi prezzi. Quelli con la testa di cammello forniscono carne di cammello, altrimenti cucinano agnello. Alternativa nelle cittá sono le paninoteche, dove potete scegliere i condimenti del panino.
to eat along the transfer to the south I recommend the many stands along the road that roast lamb. Very good and at great prices. Those with camel's heads provide camel meat, otherwise they cook lamb. Alternative in the cities are the sandwich bars, where you can choose the sandwich toppings.

- al porto comprate una scheda telefonica tunisiana. Prende ovunque andrete fino a Ksar Ghilane, e con 10cent al minuto chiamate in Italia.

-attenzione all' asfalto che é molto scivoloso.
watch out for asphalt that is very slippery.

-non fotografate poliziotti soldati o caserme. É vietato.

È comunque buona regola chiedere prima di fotografare qualuno.
Don't take pictures of police officers or military barracks. It is forbidden.
It is however a good rule to ask someone before taking pictures.

-preparatevi dei foglietti con nome cognome data e luogo di nascita cittadinanza residenza modello e targa del veicolo. Data di ingresso in Tunisia, cittá di provenienza e cittá di destinazione.

Vi serviranno per velocizzare i controlli ai checkpoint, consegnandoli alla Gendarmerie o alla Polizia.
prepare some leaflets with name, surname date and place of birth citizenship residence model and license plate of the vehicle. Date of entry into Tunisia, city of provenance and destination city.
You will need them to speed up checks at chekpoints, handing them over to the Gendarmerie or the Police.

- comprate la Lonely Planet. Nonostante non sia aggiornata da anni, è comunque molto affidabile.
buy the Lonely Planet guide. Although it hasn't been updated for years, it's still very reliable.

- Come carta vi suggerisco la Marco Polo, piú resistente e piú aggiornata nei particolari delle Michelin.
As roadmap I suggest the Marco Polo, more resistant and more updated in the details of the Michelin.

-in Dogana a la Goulette potete stipulare una polizza RC per la moto, della durata di un mese per soli 9€. Vi consiglio caldamente di stipularne una, visto il prezzo irrisorio.
at Customs at La Goulette you can take out a one-month RC insurance for the bike for only € 9. I strongly advise you to sign one, given the cheap price.

-per la situazione politica nel Paese vi rimando al sito della Farnesina e al sito del Ministero degli esteri Francese con una mappa molto utile sulle aree sconsigliate e interdette.

HUSQVARNA TE 610 RAID (WORK IN PROGRESS)

🇮🇹 La base di partenza è una ottima e affidabile Husqvarna TE610 E Dual Sport a carburatore modello2006,ma acquistata ormai 7 anni fa già di seconda mano con quasi 7.000km, che allo stato attuale ha superato brillantemente i 30.000km.

🇬🇧 The starting point is a very good and reliable Husqvarna TE610 E Dual Sport carburettor model 2006, but bought now 7 years ago already second hand with almost 7,000km, which at present has brilliantly exceeded 30,000km.

🇮🇹 Le modifiche alla parte motoristica sono state minime, dati anche i 54cv a disposizione di serie, giá più che sufficienti in ottica Raid. Infatti ho semplicemente messo uno scarico originale cui ho sostituito le camere di espansione interne in pesante acciaio, con una mitraglia e materiale insonorizzante. Il filtro aria è stato sostituito con uno ad alta porositá della HTM Racing

🇬🇧 The changes to the engine part were minimal, even the 54cv available as standard, already more than sufficient in view of Raid. In fact I simply put an original exhaust which I replaced the internal expansion chambers in heavy steel, with a Mitragine tube and soundproofing material. The air filter has been replaced with a high-porosity of HTM Racing

🇮🇹 E dalla cassa filtro è stata rimossa la retina antifiamma. Ovviamenti i getti del carburatore Keihin FCR MX da 41mm (di serie) sono stati sostituiti per adeguare la carburazione.

🇬🇧 and the flame-stop net has been removed from the filter case. Obviously the 41mm Keihin FCR MX carburetor jets have been replaced to adjust the carburetion.

🇮🇹 In caso di raid con percorsi meno enduristici, in Tunisia ad esempio, nella parte anteriore vengono fissate: una borraccia ex Esercito per una scorta d'acqua/the da 1,6 litri per emergenza, una scatola metallica porta bulloneria ricavata da un vecchio commutatore per parallele da stampanti, e da una borraccia portattrezzi presa da Decathlon in alu.

🇬🇧 In case of raids with less enduristic trails, in Tunisia for example, in the front part are fixed: a water bottle ex Army for a 1.6 liters of water/tea for emergency, a metal box door bolted from an old switch for pc printers, and a water bottle holder taken from Decathlon in alu.

🇮🇹 Il pedale del freno, in alluminio, è stato fissato con un cavetto d'acciaio alla parte anteriore della culla del telaio, in modo che non venga strappata o piegata in caso di caduta in velocità  o per l'interporsi tra la stessa e il motore di rami o grosse pietre.Inoltre il puntale di questo pedale è stato sostituito con uno ribaltabile in ergal della 24MX.

🇬🇧 The brake pedal, made of aluminum, has been fixed with a steel cable to the front part of the cradle of the frame, so that it is not torn or folded in the event of a fall in speed or for the interposition between it and the engine of branches or large stones.

In addition, the tip of this pedal has been replaced with an ergal tipper of the 24MX.

🇮🇹 Le pedane originali, troppo strette per la guida in piedi su lunghi tratti, sono state sostituite con una coppia in inox per pitbike enduro comprate usate, tramite il rialesamento di 1mm dell'attacco perno.

🇬🇧 The original footpegs, too narrow for long standing riding, have been replaced with a pair of used footpegs pitbike in iron steel, through a 1mm re-up of the pivot mount.

🇮🇹 Il copripignone è stato sostituito da uno della #HTM Racing, rinforzato da una staffa in acciaio. Inoltre è stato aggiunto un lamierino per proteggere il motore dalla catena, in caso di rotture della stessa.
🇬🇧 The pinion cover has been replaced by one of #HTM Racing, reinforced by a steel bracket. In addition, a plate has been added to protect the engine, in the event of breakage of the chain.

🇮🇹 Nel codino, la debole piastra originale che univa il portatarga al telaietto è stata sostituita con due sezioni di profilato in alluminio acquistato in un negozio di bricolage.
Il portatarga originale è anch'esso stato sostituito da uno aftermarket dell' Acerbis con luce a led.

Gli indicatori di direzione posteriori, in origine troppo esposti agli urti in enduro, sono stati montati su una barretta di acciaio zincato verniciata di nero, e sono del tipo da carena per supersportiva.

Evitano anche che in caso di caduta in viaggio l'arretramento delle borse morbide li strappi via.

Al posto del relè originale delle frecce ne è stato montato uno della Lampa, in grado di gestire frecce sia a led che con lampadina a incandescenza, anche se montate ccontemporaneamente.

La targa è stata fissata al telaietto posteriore con un cavetto d'acciaio, in modo che qualora urti e spezzi gli attacchi non venga persa, inconveniente molto dispendioso.

🇬🇧 In the tail, the weak original plate that joined the plate holder to the frame was replaced with two sections of aluminum profile purchased in a DIY store.

The original license plate holder has also been replaced by an Acerbis aftermarket with LED light.

The rear turn signals, originally too exposed to impact in enduro, have been mounted on a black painted galvanized steel bar, and are of the hull type for supersports. Also avoid that in case of a fall on the journey, the withdrawal of soft bags will rip them away.

Instead of the original relay of the arrows, one of the Lampa was installed, capable of managing both LED and incandescent lamps, even if mounted simultaneously.

The plate has been fixed to the rear frame with a steel cable, so that if it bumps and breaks the attacks is not lost, very expensive inconvenience.

🇮🇹 Al telaietto posteriore, così come alla piastra inferiore della forcella, è stata fissata una cinghia in nylon inserita in una sezione di camera d'aria da bicicletta, per spostare e sollevare agevolmente la moto.
🇬🇧 To the rear frame, as well as to the lower plate of the fork, a nylon strap has been fixed inserted in a section of bicycle tube, to move and lift the bike easily.

🇮🇹 Una staffa in acciaio e alluminio autocostruita utilizzando un profilato in alluminio e un vecchio supporto per bauletti, oltre a una grossa barra filettata con tubo in acciaio di rinforzo, fissa il telaietto posteriore all'attacco per il  cavalletto centrale (a catalogo ma mai visto per questa moto) e a un supporto pedana per il passeggero.

🇬🇧 A self-made steel and aluminum bracket using an aluminum profile and an old support for small cases, as well as a large threaded rod with reinforcing steel tube, fastens the rear frame to the attachment for the central stand (in the catalog but never seen for this bike) and a pedestal support for the passenger.

🇮🇹 Questo per impedire che il carico di circa 20-25kg delle bisacce faccia si che sulle asperità si rompano gli attacchi (già di per sé molto robusti e ben triangolati) del telaietto stesso.

Inoltre questa staffa, viene rinforzata fissando sui due lati le leve corte smontagomme, fungendo così anche da posizione di trasporto delle stesse.

🇮🇹 La sella è stata leggermente allargata usando un quadrato di gel, che l'ha resa più comoda. Inoltre per ovviare al surriscaldamento sotto al sole del #gel, oltre che per limitare lo scivolamento da seduto e, perché no, per dare alla moto un look più dakariano, è rivestita con una pelle #scamosciata di colore chiaro. Una sorta di coperta rimovibile, in modo che sia semplice lavarla.

🇬🇧 The saddle was slightly enlarged using a square of #gel, which made it more comfortable. In addition, to overcome the overheating under the sun of the gel, as well as to limit the slip from sitting and why not, to give the bike a more Dakarian look, is covered with a light colored suede #leather. A sort of removable blanket, so that it is easy to wash it.

🇮🇹 Ciò è stato possibile grazie alla autocostruzione di due staffe in metallo che "trasformano" gli attacchi originali in quelli necessari per questo serbatoio. Il pescaggio della benzina è totale, non rendendo necessaria l'adozione di pompe del carburante (tutto quello che non c'è, non si rompe). I tappi originali sono stati sostituiti con due a chiave,

di derivazione furgoni iveco.

Il tubo benzina è stato dotato di un filtro a carta trasparente.

🇬🇧 This was possible thanks to the self-construction of two metal brackets that "transform" the original attacks into those necessary for this tank. The draft of gasoline is total, making it unnecessary to adopt fuel pumps (everything that is not there, does not break). The original caps were replaced with two keys,of iveco vans.

🇮🇹 Sul manubrio, sollevato da risers, si trova posizionata la spugna paracolpi, in cui è stato ricavato un alloggio per uno strumento multifunzione che monitora sia la temperatura dell'acqua del circuito di raffreddamento, sia il voltaggio fornito dal regolatore di tensione per la ricarica della batteria, più che utile data la presenza di una batteria al litio SKYRICH HJTX14H-FP.

🇬🇧 On the handlebars, lifted up by risers, is located the bumper sponge, in which a housing for a multi-purpose instrument has been obtained which monitors both the water temperature of the cooling circuit and the voltage supplied by the voltage regulator for battery charging, more than useful given the presence of a SKYRICH HJTX14H-FP lithium battery.

🇮🇹 Infatti come tutte le batterie al litio è enormemente più leggera (880gr contro i 4,9kg di una piombo/acido) e offre molto più spunto (250cca contro i 200cca di quella di primo equipaggiamento), ma per contro ha tempi di scarica più brevi se non ricaricata durante l utilizzo.

Questo strumento è collegato "sottochiave", anzi "sottofaro" per la precisione. Una scatola dotata di 6 fusibili con spia di controllo della Lampa è alloggiata dietro la mascherina del faro, e collegata direttamente alla batteria, per non incidere sull'impianto elettrico originale della moto, tramite un relé che prende consenso per l'accensione dall'alimentazione della luce di posizione del faro stesso.Questo permette di poter tenere disattivato tutto il superfluo in caso di problemi all'avviamento. Ovviamente tutto è stato opportunamente impermeabilizzato.

🇮🇹 Sulla spugna paracolpi del traversino è fissato anche il sistema di fissaggio del #GPS Garmin, ricavato da un portacartelle in alluminio preso da un negozio di articoli per ufficio e un gancio per fissaggio tubature a muro.

smartphone rugged case

🇮🇹 Un secondo sistema di navigazione, decisamente con schermo più grande rispetto a quello del piccolo ma efficace Quest2, è uno smartphone dotato di ricezione gps/glonass e con installata una applicazione per la navigazione off line. Io uso quella che ritengo molto buona e simile nei menù a quello dei cartografici Garmin: OSMAnd.

Lo smartphone è chiuso in una custudia di tipo "rugged" dell'americana Phoneshield, fissato ad un piccolo tubo in alluminio posto tra la mascherina portafato e la strumentazione di serie della moto.

L'alimentazione viene presa da un alimentatore doppio per usb di quelli per auto, alloggiato dietro la mascherina portafaro.
🇬🇧 A second navigation system, definitely with a larger screen than that of the small but effective Quest2, is a smartphone with gps/glonass reception and an installed application for off-line navigation. I use what I consider very good and similar in the menus to that of the Garmin cartography: OSMAnd.

The smartphone is closed in a "rugged" custody of the American Phoneshield, fixed to a small aluminum tube placed between the mask and the standard instrumentation of the bike.

The power supply is taken from a double power supply for the car of cars, housed behind the headlight mask.

Roadbook and GPS holder

🇮🇹 Eventualmente al supporto strumentazione può essere montato un porta-Roadbook manuale autocostruito, per le note di viaggio.

🇮🇹 I due specchietti fissi di serie sono stati sostituiti con due ribaltabili FAR, gli unici che ho potuto verificare conservino nel tempo la giusta tensione del sistema di ribaltamento, nonostante l'uso intensivo.

🇮🇹 Le manopole sono le Progrip mod. 714, molto economiche, che garantiscono una buona presa e numerosi giorni di lunghe percorrenze senza riempire le mani di fastidiose vesciche. Inoltre dopo anni sotto al sole, non diventano mai appiccicose, al contrario di altri tipi di manopola morbida.

🇬🇧 The knobs are the Progrip mod. 714, very economical, which guarantee a good grip and numerous days of long journeys without filling the hands of annoying blisters. Also after years under the sun, they never become sticky, unlike other types of soft dial.

🇮🇹 La frizione a cavo, notoriamente molto dura su questa moto è stata alleggerita con l'ausilio del easyclutch commercializzato da #24MX. Sistema economico ma al contempo molto efficace, se pur con una necessaria piccola modifica, che ho segnalato al rivenditore e che l'ha a sua volta girata al produttore.

🇬🇧 The cable clutch, notoriously very hard on this bike has been lightened with the help of the easyclutch marketed by #24MX. Economic system but at the same time very effective, albeit with a necessary minor change, which I reported to the retailer and who in turn turned it to the manufacturer.

🇮🇹 Dopo l'esperienza nelle gallerie a est di Sarajevo, per aumentare la visibilità al buio ho installato il fanale della Aprilia RXV 450, con anche il suo parafango. Quest'ultimo é necessario perché parte del sistema di fissaggio della mascherina.
