    Capita a volte di incrociare delle vie di cui non si era mai sentito parlare. Delle vie secondarie, di solito nascoste alla vista perchè si diramano da un itinerario abituale, che ci porta alla meta che ci siamo prefissati.

   Capita cosí... Ma in moto capita molto meno. In moto si sà, "non è la meta, ma il viaggio che conta". Cosí ogni scusa è buona, anche nel frettoloso via-vai quotidiano, per provare nuove piccole avventure su tracciati mai esplorati.

   Sometimes it happens to cross paths that had never been heard of. Some minor streets, usually hidden to sight because they branch off from an habitual itinerary, which leads us to the goal we have set ourselves.

    It happens like this... But on motorcycle it happens much less. By motorbike, we know, "it is not the goal, but the journey that counts". So every excuse is good, even in the hurried daily routine, to try new little adventures on tracks never explored.

   Ed è cosí che oggi mi sono imbattuto nella "via del Genio", a Bologna. O "il Piccolo Stelvio", come l'ho subito ribattezzata, a causa dei suoi tornati serrati.

    Intendiamoci, niente a che vedere con gli ottantotto tornanti del Passo alpino. Peró anche qui non si scherza: ne ho contati ben ventuno su una lunghezza totale di meno di due chilometri e mezzo. Uno dietro l'altro, senza respiro, su una strada stretta stretta, che bisogna far attenzione a chi potrebbe giungere nell'opposta direzione.

  Una bella alternativa per salire da Porta Saragozza fino a Paderno e alla basilica di San Luca, luoghi sempre belli da vivere, specialmente in estate, dove tanti giungono per sfuggire all'afa che attanaglia il centro. O semplicemente per godere della vista delle cime appenniniche che si stagliano come sfondo, lí, poco piú a sud dei colli bolognesi.

  A nice alternative to climb from "Porta Saragozza" to "Paderno" and the "Basilica of San Luca", always beautiful places to live, especially in summer, where many come to escape the heat that grips the center. Or simply to enjoy the view of the Apennine peaks that stand out as a backdrop, a little further south of the Bologna hills.

Ormai l'elettronica permea la nostra vita, e anche in viaggio di alcune cose non possiamo fare a meno, come il gps. Di altre ci piace sfruttarne le particolaritá che ci semplificano l'esistenza.

Ma quali portare? E come evitare di essere sovraccaricati dalla miriade di accessori che ognuno di essi potrebbe avere al seguito?

Nowaday the electronic permeates our lives, and we can not do without some of them, such as GPS. Otherwise we like to take advantage of their special features that simplify us the existence. But what to brig? And how to avoid being overloaded by the myriad of accessories that each of them may have in tow?

La risposta la si puó riassumere in due parole: "essenzialitá" e "condivisione".

Se per quanto concerne l' "essenzialitá" ognuno ha i suoi parametri soggettivi (il fotografo professionista non rinuncerá mai ai suoi tre/quattro obiettivi per la reflex digitale), per il concetto di "condivisione" possiamo anche cercare di optare per prodotti che abbiano, per esempio, piú di un utilizzo, o che possano essere usati su diversi oggetti.

La prima cosa è l'alimentazione per la ricarica delle batterie. La standardizzazione industriale ci aiuta tramite lo standard "usb". Ecco che tutti i dispositivi elettronici che possiamo avere al seguito possono essere scelti in base anche a questo parametro, ormai diffusissimo.

In questo modo tutti possono essere ricaricati durante la marcia da una comoda porta-usb doppia da manubrio, facilmente reperibile in commercio. Ovviamente l'uso di questa alimentazione sulla moto sará abitualmente dedicata allo/agli apparati gps, che sará indispensabile mantenere con le batterie sempre al massimo livello di carica, in caso il mezzo si guasti e si debba procedere a piedi alla ricerca di aiuto.

L'uso di questo tipo di ricarica ci semplifica la vita anche quando sostiamo in albergo per la notte. Una unitá multiporta ci permetterá di utilizzare una sola presa di corrente per piú dispositivi. Attenzione all'amperaggio che questo dispositivo puó fornire. Ve ne sono parecchie in commercio che forniscono solo 0.5A su ogni attacco usb. Oltre a necessitare tempi piúlunghi di ricarica, questo amperaggio potrebbe non essere sufficienti a caricare alcuni dispositivi. Io ho scelto una multiporta che fornisce 1.0A su due porte e 2.1A sulle altre due.

Warning amperage that this device can provide. There are several on the market that only provide 0.5A for each USB plug. In addition to need longers charging time, this amperage may not be sufficient to charge some devices. I chose a multiport that provides 1.0A on two plugs and 2.1A on the other two.

Importante anche avere al seguito un sistema di carica di emergenza, come un power bank, nel caso che, ad esempio, la ricerca di soccorsi per un guasto al veicolo si protragga per piú giorni.

Io ho optato per un power bank da 6000mA con pannello solare integrato,con due porte di alimentazione da 0.5A e 1.0A. 6000mA potrebbero sembrare poche, visto che ora in commercio esistono anche powerbank da 30.000mA, ma raramente questi sono dotati di un pannello solare che ne supporti la ricarica in tempo ragionevoli. Portarlo attaccato con un moschettone allo zainetto idrico, possibilmente col pannello rivolto a sud e non coperto, lo manterrá sempre in perfetta efficienza.

Puó inoltre essere utile in altre situazioni d'emergenza. Per esempio, durante il raid nei Balcani, ho avuto personalmente un guasto ad uno spinotto dell'alimentazione usb a manubrio, cui sono riuscito a rimediare solo due giorni dopo. In questi due giorni il powerbank con pannello solare ha tranquillamente sopperito all'esigenza dell'alimentazione dei sistemi gps.

I cavetti usb possono essere condivisi, ma attenzione che alcuni dispositivi necessitano di cavetti originali, che hanno al loro interno filamenti piú spessi per supportare il maggior amperaggio necessario alla ricarica.

It can also be useful in other emergency situations. For example, during the raid in the Balkans, I personally had a fault in one power plug usb on the handlebars, which I repair only two days later. In these two days the powerbank with solar panel has bypassed supply gps charging systems. The USB cables can be shared, but beware that some devices require original cables, which have within them more thick filaments to support a stronger amperage to recharge.

Anche alcune torce a led possono essere ricaricate tramite cavo usb, importante per poterle utilizzare anche come fanale supplementare d'emergenza fissandole al manubrio. Sia in caso di guasto al fanale che qualora si necessiti di una luce maggiore. Utile è anche una seconda batteria giá carica.

Ricordate sempre di portare anche una torcia frontale, molto utile in caso si debba fare luce mentre le mani siano occupate in una riparazione al veicolo.

Even some LED flashlights can be recharged via USB cable, it can be important to also be used as additional emergency light, fixing them to the handlebars. Both in case of failure of lightning system, or whenever you need more light. Profit is also a second already-charged battery.

Always remember to also bring a headlamp, very useful if you need to shed light while your hands are occupied in repairing the vehicle.

Una macchina fotografica in un viaggio credo proprio che sia un accessorio indispensabile, per fissare il piú possibile quello che i nostri occhi vedono.

Qualunque tipo di camera scegliate, optate per numerose schede di memoria

di ridotte dimensioni. Questo per evitare, in caso di smarrimento o smagnetizzazione delle schede, di perdere il numero minore di foto. Stesso discorso lo si puó fare anche per la actioncam, che dovrá usare lo stesso formato di schede o dovrá avere un adattatore per farlo.

A camera on a trip I think it's a must-have accessory, to secure as much as possible what our eyes see.

Any type of room you choose, opt for multiple memory cards of small dimensions. This is to avoid, in case of loss or demagnetization of the cards, to lose the least number of photos. Same thing you can do for the ActionCam, who will need to use the same format card or must have an adapter to do so.

Altro accorgimento per non perdere foto/video è quello di caricarle appena possibile su un cloud. Questo è possibile per mezzo di un lettore di schede di memoria, connesso tramite un cavo otg ad uno smartphone che abbia questa funzionalitá.

Lo smartphone potrá essere anche usato per scattare immagini o riprendere video, nonchè per comunicare la propria posizione a casa ad orari cadenzati tramite apposite app e programmi.

Ricordate comunque di portare sempre un telefono piú semplice di riserva, da utilizzare in caso di emergenza.

Another trick to avoid losing photos/videos, is as soon as possible to upload them in a cloud. This is possible by means of a memory card reader, connected via a OTG cable to a smartphone that has this functionality.

The smartphone can also be used to take pictures or shoot video, as well as to communicate your position at home by scheduled timetables via special apps and programs.

Remember to always carry a easiest phone, to be used in case of emergency.

Lo smartphone puó essere usato anche come gps, sempre con app che permettano tale funzionalitá offline (io uso OSMAnd, che utilizza le completissime mappe openstreetmap).

Questa funzionalitá è ospitata anche su un secondo smartphone un po' datato che, ospitato in una custodia rugged e fissato su un supporto antivibrante, sopperisce allo schermo piccolo del mio Garmin Quest2.

L'unica pecca, a mio avviso, è il sistema touchscreen, che in moto ti obbliga a interrompere la marcia per spostare o zoomare la mappa, a differenza dei pulsanti che si possono azionare anche senza guardare, una volta memorizzata la loro posizione.

The smartphone can also be used as GPS, always with apps that allow this functionality offline (I use OsmAnd, which uses OpenStreetMap maps, very complete maps). A questo pacchetto di dispositivi "base" potete aggiungerne altri in base alle necessitá specifiche, come un telefono satellitare se vi recate in luoghi dove la copertura gsm risulti assente, o di un adattatore per prese di corrente, se vi recate in paesi che usano standard diversi.

In this "base" package  you can add more devices according to the specific requirements, such as a satellite phone if you go to places where cellular phone coverage is absent, or power sockets adapter if you are traveling to countries that use standard different.

Capitolo 4 - giacca e moto Chapter 4 - jacket and motorbike

Giacca

Nella giacca, oltre ai documenti sistemati in una tasca interna, anch'essi chiusi in un contenitore stagno, possiamo portare:
- il gilet ad alta visibilitá
- la giacca a vento. Questa dovrá essere di buona fattura. Possibilmente leggermente cerata all'interno e con cuciture e zip coperte (la mia ne ha una cortissima e si infila dall'alto come un maglione). La taglia dovrâ essere un po abbondante, considerando le protezioni da offroad e lo zainetto, ma non troppo per non essere d'impaccio alle alte velocitá. Per questo dovrá avere anche un eleastico regolabile di chiusura in basso. È un altro di quegli elementi a doppio uso, perchè soprá a tutto protegge dalla pioggia, mentre se messa sotto la giacca, contribuisce a mantenere la temperatura corporea.

Jacket

In the jacket you can keep your documents placed into an inside pocket, and closed in a sealed container. Otherwise we can bring:
- The high visibility vest
- the raincoat. This should be of good quality. Possibly slightly waxed inside and seams and zips "taped" (mine has a very short zip and is weareable from the head as a sweater). Must be a little loose fitting, considering offroad-chest protections and backpack, but not too much not to be an impediment at high speeds. To this you must have also a eleastic adjustable bottom closure. It's another one of those dual-use items, because above all protects from rain, while if you put it under the jacket, helps to maintain body temperature.

Moto
Sulla moto è meglio fissare il numero maggiore di attrezzi possibili, specialmente quelli piú pesanti.

Ma ricordate sempre il concetto "piú pesante=piú in basso possibile".

Motorbike
On the bike it is better to fix the largest number of tools, especially those heavier.

Oltre a quello che ho messo in questa piccola guida, dovete considerare il clima nel periodo in cui viaggerete, la reperibilitá di alcuni ricambi nei luoghi dove vi recate, nonchè difetti della moto.
E ricordate che, dovunque siate, sará facile comprare una maglia di lana per voi stessi, ma potrebbe essere impossibile trovare un paio di paraoli per la vostra forcella!

In addition to what I put in this guide, you have to consider the climate in the period in which you will travel, the availability of certain spare parts in the places where you go, as well as defects of the bike.
And remember, wherever you are, will be easy to buy a wool jersey for yourself, but it might be impossible to find a pair of oil seals for your fork!

CAPITOLO 3 - BISACCE CHAPTER 3 - SADDLEBAGS

Sul posteriore della moto possono essere tranquillamente caricati il maggior numero di bagagli. Io preferisco le borse morbide "a bisaccia", leggere e capienti.

Tra le due bisacce sistemo solo una piccolissima borsa stagna con barrete energetiche e il telo con i pali della tenda igloo, in quanto troppo volume in quella posizione pregiudicherebbe la guidabilità nelle discese ripide in fuoristrada di tipo enduristico, dove è necessario arretrare con il peso de corpo.Per quanto riguarda la tenda non porto i picchetti, tanto basta legare due estremità di un lato alle ruote della moto perchè sia sufficientemente ancorata.

Tutto quello che vedete, compresa la tenda con i pali, raggiunge un peso massimo di 20-25Kg.

Ricordate che oltre ai concetti di "più usato-più facilmente raggiungibile", "più importante/debole - più protetto" e "più pesante - più in basso", nel caricare le bisacce si dovrà tener conto anche della vicinanza al terminale di scarico.

On the rear of the bike can be easily uploads with many luggage. I prefer the soft saddlebags, light and capacius.

-scatola di medicinali (antinfiammatori, antidolorifici, antibiotici, antipiretici, antibiotici per virus intestinali, disinfettante)

-gavetta militare con all'interno un set di posate da campeggio e alcuni viveri d'emergenza (io uso tonno in scatola, cous-cous, sale, olio in bustine, zucchero, the in bustine)

-ricambio di intimo (calzini, maglietta e costume da bagno che uso al posto degli slip)

-accappatoio in microfibra

-softshell tecnico

-jeans, una maglietta e una camicia arrotolate insieme con cura, in modo che non si sgualciscano.

-medicines box (inflammetion killers, painkillers, antibiotics, fever reducer, antibiotics for intestinal viruses, disinfectant)

-Military mess tin with, inside, a set of camping cutlery and some emergency food  (I use canned tuna, cous-cous, salt, oil in sachets, sugar, tea sachets)

-underwear changes (socks, t-shirt and bathing-suit that I use instead of slip)

-bathrobe in microfibre

-technical softshell

-Jeans and shirts rolled-up together with care, so they do not crumple.

Tutto quello che si trova all'interno dei bagagli va inserito in robuste sacche stagne (io uso i sacchi-gelo dell'Ikea), per per proteggerli dall'acqua e dalla polvere/sabbia. Fatelo anche se avete bisacce di ottima qualità. Non è bello trovare il sacco a pelo bagnato al momento di andare a dormire.

Fuori dalle bisacce si possono legare anche altri oggetti. Io metto le camere d'aria di scorta imbustate dentro sacche da caffè espresso, molto robuste e impermeabili.

Everything you put in saddlebags must be inserted in hard and waterproof bags (i use gelo-pack you can find at Ikea market), to protect from water and dust/sand. You must do it even if you use high quality saddlebags. Is not nice to find a drenched saddle bags when you are tired in the evening.

Out of the saddle bags you can tie also other Items. I put tubes as replacements inside big Espresso bags. Very robust and waterproof.

CAPITOLO 2 - MARSUPIO ATTREZZI E PRIMO SOCCORSO CHAPTER 2 - BAG TOOLS AND FIRST AID

Sotto allo zaino, legato in vita, può tranquillamente essere fissato un marsupio per gli attrezzi.
Io preferisco usarne uno semplice, in quanto più versatile. A questo fisso anche una borraccia in alluminio per 1/2 litro di acqua con sali minerali disciolti (la vescica del camel-back acquista un gusto sgradevole se mettete qualcosa di diverso dalla semplice acqua)
Under the backpack, tied at the waist, it can be fixed a fanny pack for tools.
I prefer to use a simple model, as more versatile. At this also fixed an aluminum bottle for 1/2 liter of water with dissolved minerals (the bladder of the camel-back acquires an unpleasant taste if you put something other than plain water).

All'interno trovano posto gli attrezzi di uso più comune. Bisognerebbe che questo set di attrezzi venisse usato, almeno per le prime volte, quando si effettuano lavori di manutenzione ordinaria sulla moto, in modo da essere sicuri di aver messo dentro tutte le chiavi necessarie.
Nel caso della mia Husqvarna TE610E MY2007 porto al seguito:

IL BAGAGLIO LEGGERO NEI VIAGGI OFFROAD - CAPITOLO UNO -------------- LIGHT BAGGAGE IN OFFROAD TRAVEL - CHAPTER ONE

INTRO

Nei viaggi prevalentemente votati alla ricerca di percorsi fuoristrada, il bagaglio e il suo posizionamento risultano fattori importantissimi per la buona riuscita del Raid
Leggerezza, compattezza, semplicità, efficacia, posizionamento e proprietà "multiruolo" consentono di fare la differenza tra un viaggio divertente, e un calvario continuo.
Se i primi punti possono essere di immediata comprensione, a volte noto che alcuni di noi si fossilizzano sull'uso per cui un oggetto è nato, senza contemplare altri possibili utilizzi. Questo fattore ci permette di non sobbarcarci dell'onere del trasporto di inutili "doppioni".
Un esempio: una buona torcia a led ricaricabile, con un buona distanza di illuminazione, ci permette di usarla anche come faro supplementare d'emergenza.

Mano mano che procederemo con l'analisi del bagaglio, vedremo anche di sviluppare i molteplici utilizzi di alcuni accessori.

Importantissimo è il posizionamento degli oggetti nei bagagli. Dovranno sottostare al criterio del "più usato-più facilmente raggiungibile", ma anche a quello del "più importante/debole - più protetto" e del "più pesante - più in basso". A proposito di questo ultimo criterio, ricordate che masse più basse e centralizzate favoriscono la maneggevolezza della moto. A tal proposito da non sottovalutare assolutamente la possibilità di posizionare alcuni oggetti direttamente sulla moto, nei posti più disparati.

Inutile dire che ogni singola parte del baglio dovrà essere adeguatamente isolata da acqua e sporco, tramite appositi sacchetti (ottimi quelli per congelare cibi, specialmente quelli molto robusti dell'Ikea).

Ma basta chiacchere, e passiamo a vedere cosa è scaturito dalle mie esperienze nei viaggi-avventura.

On trips mainly devoted to the search for off-road, the luggage and its positioning are very important factors for the success of the Raid.
Light weight, compactness, simplicity, effectiveness, positioning and "multi-role" properties allow you to make the difference between a fun journey, and an ongoing ordeal.
If the first points may be obvious, sometimes it is known that some of us fossilize use to which an object is born, without contemplating other possible uses. This factor allows us not to full our luggages with unnecessary "duplicates".
An example: a good  rechargeable led flashlight, with a good distance lighting, can also be used as an emergency auxiliary roadlight.

As we proceed with the analysis of the baggage, we will also see the development of the multiple uses of some accessories.

Very important is the placement of objects in the luggage. They will have to comply with the criterion of the "mostused - more easily accessible", but also that of the "most important/weak - most protected" and "heavier-lower." About this last criterion, remember that lower and centralized masses  promote the handling of the bike. In this regard should not be underestimated absolutely the possibility to place some objects directly on the motorcycle, in the most disparate places.

Needless to say that every single part of the luggage must be adequately isolated from water and dirt, through appropriate bags (good ones to freeze foods, expecially those very robust by Ikea-shop).

But enough chatter, and let's see what has resulted from my experiences in adventure travel.

CAPITOLO UNO  - LO ZAINETTO

CHAPTER ONE - THE BACKPACK

Lo zainetto è posizionato sulla schiena, quindi inciderà molto sulla mobilità del corpo durante la guida, fondamentale nel fuoristrada, e ci sottrarrà energie preziose se troppo pesante. Questi i principi cardine per scegliere cosa mettere nello zainetto.

Unica cosa pesante obbligatoria da tenere nello zaino sarà la vescica dell'acqua, il così detto "camel back", la quale ci permette, tramite l'apposita cannula, di idratarci continuamente per prevenire crampi e al contempo di evitare troppe soste.
Ma dato che la quantità minima d'acqua a inizio tappa dovrà essere di 1,5-2,0 litri, quindi Kg, questa sarà l'unico oggetto pesante ammesso nello zaino.

Lo zaino è facilmete accessibile in qualsiasi momento, quindi prediligeremo, per il suo riempimento, di prodotti di pronto uso.

Tra questi nella foto possiamo notare:
-un astuccio con alcune fettucce ed elastici di riserva, nonchè una fettuccia da alpinismo.
-il kit per riparazioni di camera d'aria, composto da pompa che utilizza anche cartucce da 16g di CO2, smontavalvola, carta vetra fina, toppe di varie misure, colla vulcanizzante, tiravalvola per un facile reinserimento durante il montaggio.
-un contenitore con un blocchetto di sapone di marsiglia. Questo è uno dei prodotti multiruolo: serve per lavare gli indumenti intimi a fine tappa, a fare il bucato nei giorni di riposo, a far scivolare bene lo pneumatico sul cerchio quando lo si rimonta dopo una riparazione alla camera d'aria, e a bloccare piccole perdite d'olio.
-Una torcia a led molto potente, da poter usare appunto anche come faro, fissandola al manubrio con appositi ganci o anche solo con un po' di nastro telato e alcune fascette in plastica.
-Una sega a cavo, comoda per ricavare pezzi di legna per il fuoco o pali della lunghezza ideale per il campo.
-Repellente per insetti.
-Un accendino e una candela, che oltre a poter far luce può agevolarci nell'accensione di un falò (quante volte ci siamo scottati le dita per la posizione dell'accendino?)
-Una tazza in acciaio.
-Mappa, un taccuino per appunti con una matita. La matita scrive sempre e in ogni posizione, a differenza della penna biro.
-Una torcia elettrica frontale per quando nella preparazione attardata del campo o nelle riparazioni d'emergenza che si spingono oltre il tramonto del sole, si ha necessità di avere le mani libere.
-Uno spazzolino da viaggio con dentifricio e un gel igenizzante per mani. Io li tengo in una delle tasche laterali dello zaino, in modo da non doverle cercare quando è ora di pranzo.
-Un astuccio contenente il set per il cucito, non dimenticando anche del nastro da regali per cuciture veramente resistenti (ricordate quando da piccoli cercavate di aprire i regali di Natale tirando il nastro, ma finchè non arrivava mamma col coltello non c'era niente da fare?), delle mollette da cartoleria che potrebbero servire a fissare un ulteriore strato di nylon sulla paleria della tenda, un tubetto di colla cianoacrilica e un paio di guanti di lattice pronto uso.
-Fascette in plastica di varie misure.
-Un coltello a scatto di buone dimensioni e ottima lama (lo tengo nell'altra tasca dello zaino)

Vi possono inoltre trovare posto alcuni oggetti che non sono magari necessari durante il viaggio, ma per la loro leggerezza ben si prestano a trovare posto nello zaino:

-Una confezione con il caricabatterie e i cavi per la ricarica dei dispositivi elettrici (discorso articolato, che merita un capitolo a parte)
-Un telefono d'emergenza
-Alcune batterie d' emergenza per le torce
-Colluttorio e dentifricio di riserva
-Un accendino di scorta
-Adattore per spine internazionali se vi recate all'estero.
-Alcuni rinvii da alpinismo e moschettoni
-una custodia per occhiali con lenti di riserva (trovo molto comodo guidare con lenti arancioni)

All'estero inoltre possono essre fissati altri oggetti di utilizzo comune:

-una corda
-una macchina fotografica, meglio se del tipo "rugged", in una custodia e legata con un nastro di sicurezza, in modo da poetr scattare foto anche senza fermarsi.
-Una bussola
-Un Power Bank che si ricarichi anche con un pannello solare integrato. Da tenere rivolto il più possibile verso il lato sud, ovviamente.

But since the minimum amount of water at the beginning stage should be 1.5-2.0 liters, then Kg, this will be the only heavy object admitted into the backpack.

The backpack is easily accessible at all times, so we'll prefer for his filling, ready-use products.

Among these we can see in the picture:
-a box with some tapes and spare rubber bands, as well as a mountaineering webbing.
the kit for repairs of the air chamber, consisting of pump which also uses cartridges of 16g of CO2, valve-disassembler, fine vetra paper, patches of various sizes, vulcanizing glue, valve-tractor for easy reinsertion during assembly.
-a container with a block of Marseilles soap. This is one of the multirole products: used to wash undergarments in late stage, to do laundry on rest days, to slide well the tire on the rim when you comeback after a repair to the air chamber, and blocking small oil leaks.
-A very powerful LED flashlight, you can also use just as a lighthouse, staring at the handlebars with hooks or even just with a little 'of canvas and some plastic ties tape.
-A cable saw, convenient to derive the pieces of wood for the fire or poles of the ideal length for the field.
-Insect repellent.
-A lighter and a candle, which in addition to being able to light can facilitate us in ignition of a bonfire (how many times have we burned our fingers for the lighter position?)
-A cup of steel.
-Map, a notebook for notes with a pencil. The pencil writes always and in any position, unlike the ballpoint pen.
-A front flashlight for when lingering in the preparation of the field or in emergency repairs that go beyond the sunset, you need to have your hands free. A travel toothbrush with toothpaste and a sanitizing gel for hands. I hold them in one of the side pocket of backpack, so you do not have to look for when it's lunchtime.
-A box containing the set for sewing, not forgetting also gift tape (remember when you were young and you were trying to open Christmas gifts pulling the tape, but until Mom came with the knife there was nothing to do? ), the clips from stationery that could block a nylon layer on the tent poles, a tube of glue cyanoacrylate and a pair of latex gloves, ready to use.

-A snap knife of a good size and excellent blade (I keep it in the other pocket of the backpack)

You can also find a place for some items that have not even immediate use during the journey, but for their lightness lend themselves well to find room in your backpack:

-A pack with charger and cables for charging electric devices (articulate speech, which deserves a separate chapter)
-An emergency telephone
-Some emergencybatteries for flashlights.
-Mouthwashe and toothpaste reserves
-A second lighter
-Adapter for international plugs if you go abroad.
-Some mountaineering referrals and carabiners
-a case for glasses with spare lenses (I find it very comfortable to drive with orange lenses)

Abroad also they can be successfully established other commonly used objects:

-a rope
-a camera, preferably of the "rugged" type, in an enclosure, and connected with a safety belt, that will allows you to take a photo without stopping.
-a compass

-A Power Bank that can be  also recharged with an integrated solar panel. Keep it faced to the south side, of course.
